Artist Spotlight: mc chris.

mc chris... You love him, or you hate him. But you absolutely have to be musically challenged not to enjoy anything this super-geek rapper can dish out.

This former nerdcore rapper, mc chris, cut his ties from the genre of nerdcore not too recently, to focus more on proving that he, himself, was a legit and serious artist... not literally a gimmick. You may have hear him on several internet videos, spanning through his most popular "fette's vette" and "nrrrd grrrl," his most recent internet breakthrough. He has been involved in so many upcomings from Willliams Street. Being the voice of MC Pee Pants from "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," and Hesh from "Sealab 2021." He also notably voice in cameos for many different productions, and also was a staff member working with Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, the creators of the show.

He started with mc chris and the lee majors, his project that started his reign of the hip-hop, Brooklyn scene. With his debut "Life's a Bitch, and I'm Her Pimp" [free on his website], he already produced a crowd favorite, and geek fandom favorite, "Fette's Vette." He then, two years later, released his record "Knowing is Half the Hassle", which, originally, was single handedly made by mc with regular CD-Rs. His next album "Dungeon Master of Ceremonies," broke all expectations of an mc album, and featured cleaner, more precise editing, and mixing.

His next, upcoming record "mc chris is dead," seems to redefine mc as an artist, and a more mature version of where he has been in the past. Many songs have already been released to his myspace page in the past, spanning from "mc chris is dead" to "falynn."

Expect to see mc on his next appearance on the Vans Warped Tour in the summer of 2008.

Debate: Skill or Balance?

As we all know... video games are varied between the playability. Whether a game geared towards mature audiences feel like five year-olds can play, or vice versa. It all comes down to this simplicity: Balance? or Skill?

I cannot say, necessarily that either is better nor worse, but what people should really gear their sights on as what is accountable as fair or what is not fair. It's always good to know how people are being treated in a populace of many many gamers. But you always seem to have that one person at a LAN party, or that one person online, bitch about how some people are better than they are. Let's deal with those people first, shall we?

Games are for many open minded individuals, who are always looking to better themselves in one aspect or another. If you cannot play, just practice. If you cannot practice, do not ever complain. It's that easy. Crank the handicap! Switch the difficulty! Work your way up. Shooters are definitely, other than fighters, the most played game among thousands of hardcore players. If you are used to twiddling your thumbs to Jak and Daxter, than all the fairness to you. Those are great games. However, you cannot do this: "Oh, it's alright... I'm ready to play Call of Duty 4 on Veteran! I've been playing Super Mario Sunshine, just for this moment!" It's not embarrassing to admit you need a little more playtime. I, myself, are not the hardcore Xbox player. I prefer PC among anything. In your case, Balance is preferred, and that is understood. Brawl has a system, to where if someone is using the same attack over and over again... the damage dealt decreases, allowing virtually anyone to get a good hit, or threeSecondly, do not fret about not being good enough. Anyone can play anything great. You just have to practice. Watch videos, see screenshots... get pumped! I listen to good music before a game, or even during. Surround yourself with things you enjoy.

Now to you. The people with bragging rights. We all know your good. But honestly, you have been the noob behind player four's screen as well as we all have. But I am not here for that. We know that you have practiced, and practiced for your tournament, or just pissing your dad off by being better than he is... but please stay away from Exploits. It's a little hard for someone with a learning curve to get the sheer point of the game, if you are doing things that interfere with the main objective of the game. Take Halo. Halo One had the least amount of exploits, until you come online with Halo Two. Halo Two, after all the patches that fixed exploitations, was pure skill. And that was a given. Many people switched from Halo two to Call of Duty 4, because the gameplay was jaded from the second. Halo switched from being good for Hardcore gamers, to anyone in particular. It was balance.

It's for you to decide. There are the three groups of people. Casual, Hardcore, and in between. They all have their certain likes... which we should respect. Skill is reserved for those ready, and balance is something everyone can enjoy.

The best character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I will admit this up and down... All over the place. Pokemon Trainer is the BEST character on brawl.

Pros-
-Everything is here. Speed, Power, Balance. Squirtle is one of the faster attacking characters on the game. Ivysaur is a mix of strength and evasion. Charizard is a fucking brute. No way around it.
-Changing is quick. There's no string attached to swaping Pokemon.
-Not based on Stamina as originally planned. They share percentages, like everyone else.

Con-
-No Down B attack, or down special. This is instead to swap Pokemon. This isn't so much a con, as a learning curve.

Other than Pokemon Trainer... DEFINITELY check the following characters-
Sonic.
Pikachu.
Captain Falcon. [HUGE upgrade from Melee.]
Meta Knight.
Luigi.
Zelda.
Wario.

Those are MY favorites so far. I have not played with Snake very much, so I cannot give an exact opinion on him.

But seriously. Play with Pokemon Trainer. You will not be disappointed.

Welcome to Mind Above Matter.

Hi. I'm Christian Langton. Residential gamer, avid artist, and music enthusiast. I'm starting this blog to convey my views on Politics, Gaming, Industry, Music, Artistry, Poetry, and my life in general.

My favorite artists are Jhonen Vasquz, Rikki Simons, Roman Dirge, Stan Lee, Pablo Picasso, DaVinci, and many more. It may seem a little graphic novel based, but those are to name a few of my main likings. I mean, everyone should know who Pablo Picasso and DaVinci are.

My favorite genre of music is Industrial... But I'll listen to anything, honestly. Except Country... but that's a dead genre anyways. I love electronic music. Spanning from Mindless Self Indulgence [IF Vinyl pictured above], to VNV Nation, to Assemblage 23, and back to Combichrist. It's a little jaded, I understand... but I'm willing to open my mind to many different things. Hip-Hop is another great music genre. Not rap, but poetic, influential / spiritual Hip-Hop. Shit that comes from your heart, and not all about money, women, sex, and drugs. It's all in the matter of poetry and meaning to me, but randomized music is cool, too.

I'm also in a band that I take very seriously. It's just something to have fun with, but I'd love to further with it. We are Randomized Nothings, and we're an electro-industrial act of of Dallas, TX. We're a mix up of many genres from Hip-Hop, to Darkwave, to Punk, to Electro, and Industrial. I'm trying to hone my vocal stylings, so there are no vocals as of now... but if you would like to... check our Myspace at... http://www.myspace.com/randomizednothings!

You will see some reviews, previews, art, and many opinions. Mind you, you can always contact me for an idea on what you want me to put into this blog. I'm always open to ideas and conecpts.

Thank you for getting this soon to be popular blog kicked off!
